Institutional Policy

Don Bosco College has established systems and procedures for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities. They provide guidance to members in a number of academic areas. The College has regular maintenance and periodic replenishment of essential facilities.
College policy is to have effective mechanism for the upkeep of the infrastructure and other facilities as to have optimum utilization of the facilities in order to have effective college functioning.



Consultancy Policy


Don Bosco College, Panjim, is committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence, social responsibility, and community engagement. As part of its vision and mission, the College encourages its faculty to share their expertise with external agencies, industries, institutions, government bodies, and community organizations through consultancy and training activities. Such engagements facilitate knowledge transfer, strengthen industry-academia linkages, contribute to national and regional development, and enhance the professional growth of faculty members.


This Consultancy Policy provides a structured framework to regulate consultancy activities undertaken by faculty members, ensuring alignment with institutional values, statutory obligations, and quality assurance norms, including those prescribed by NAAC.


The College reserves the right to amend this policy as and when required.


1. Introduction


Consultancy activities form an important interface between Don Bosco College and society at large. Through consultancy, faculty members apply their academic knowledge, professional expertise, and research skills to address real-world problems, thereby contributing to social, economic, and institutional development.


Don Bosco College recognizes consultancy as a legitimate academic activity, provided it does not interfere with the primary responsibilities of teaching, research, mentoring, and institutional duties. This policy outlines the scope, eligibility, approval mechanism, revenue sharing, and general conditions governing consultancy activities undertaken by faculty members.


2. Consultancy - Meaning and Scope


Consultancy refers to the provision of expert advice, professional services, training, or technical assistance by faculty members to external organizations for financial or non-financial consideration, based on their domain expertise.


Consultancy may include:



  • Professional advice, analysis, and interpretation

  • Training programmes, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives

  • Curriculum design, evaluation, and assessment services

  • Policy analysis and institutional audits

  • Community-based and social consultancy projects


Consultancy does not include:



  • Routine teaching or teaching-related activities

  • Research projects funded through recognized funding agencies

  • Authorship of books, research papers, or editorial roles

  • Participation in conferences, seminars, or academic forums

  • External examiner or reviewer duties


3. Eligibility



  • All faculty members of Don Bosco College are eligible to undertake consultancy assignments.

  • Consultancy shall not be treated as a matter of right and requires prior written permission from the Principal.

  • The interpretation of time allocation shall rest with the College Management, whose decision shall be final.


4. Approval and Monitoring Mechanism



  • Faculty members intending to undertake consultancy shall submit a formal proposal to the Principal through the IQAC.

  • The proposal shall include details of the client organization, scope of work, duration, financial implications, and use of institutional resources, if any.

  • All approved consultancy activities shall be recorded and monitored by the IQAC for quality assurance and NAAC documentation.


5. Conflict of Interest


Faculty members undertaking consultancy must ensure that:



  • There is no conflict with their teaching, research, or administrative responsibilities

  • The consultancy does not compromise academic integrity or institutional reputation

  • Institutional resources are used only with prior approval

  • The consultancy does not create a financial or professional conflict of interest


Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed to the Principal before undertaking the assignment.


6. Revenue Sharing Policy



  • Consultancy income shall be shared between the faculty member(s) and the College.

  • The standard revenue-sharing ratio shall be 60:40 (Faculty: College) after deducting administrative expenses.

  • In special cases involving substantial institutional resources, the sharing ratio may be revised with the approval of the Principal.

  • The College share shall be utilized for academic development, research promotion, infrastructure enhancement, and quality initiatives.


7. General Conditions



  • All consultancy assignments must be routed through Don Bosco College.

  • Consultancy undertaken without prior approval shall be treated as a violation of rules.

  • The College shall not be responsible for consultancy activities undertaken in an individual capacity without institutional approval.

  • In cases involving multiple faculty members, a Coordinator shall be appointed by the Principal.


  • Proper records, reports, and outcomes of consultancy activities must be submitted to IQAC.


8. Documentation and Reporting (NAAC Compliance)


For each consultancy activity, the following documents shall be maintained:



  • Approval letter

  • Financial statements/receipts and revenue-sharing details

  • Completion report and outcomes

  • Appreciation letter

  • Geotagged photographs (where applicable)


These records shall form part of the College’s NAAC documentation.
