Institutional Policy

Don Bosco College has established systems and procedures for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities. They provide guidance to members in a number of academic areas. The College has regular maintenance and periodic replenishment of essential facilities.
College policy is to have effective mechanism for the upkeep of the infrastructure and other facilities as to have optimum utilization of the facilities in order to have effective college functioning.



Procedures for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities


Objectives

  • To have effective mechanism for the upkeep of the infrastructure and other facilities

  • Maintaining a meticulous system to ensure safety measures in the campus


Policy: Don Bosco College has established systems and procedures for maintaining and utilizing Physical, Academic and support facilities. They provide guidance to members in a number of academic areas. College has regular maintenance and periodic replenishment of essential facilities.
College policy is to have effective mechanism for the upkeep of the infrastructure and other facilities as to have optimum utilization of the facilities in order to have effective college functioning. A competitive examination is established by the college, under the guidance of Goa University and a dedicated examination committee is formed which helps the students to prepare for competitive examination and the expenses are met by the management.
The constituent part of the policy is as follows:


  • College has ICT enabled smart classrooms and all those computer related facilities are maintained by the IT cell head appointed by the management.

  • The classrooms are well maintained and cleanliness is checked by the full time helpers.

  • Classrooms are well ventilated and essentials such as tube lights, fans, benches and desks for the students are provided and maintained from time to time.

  • Maintenance and repair work of the classrooms are timely undertaken and done under the supervision of the management.


Computer Laboratories and Studio



  • Timely supervision is conducted by Coordinators/ Head of the Departments of the concerned department.

  • A hierarchy system is followed for reaching out for repair work/replacement of gadgets if required under the supervision of the Principal/Manager/HODs.

  • Requirement of essential IT gadgets for a workshop/seminar are accessed via IT cell by writing to them one week in advance.

  • Requirement of essential studio equipment for covering a workshop/seminar/event are accessed via Media cell by writing to them in advance.

  • The college has three computer labs. Total number of working PCs are 67 which are maintained and governed by the IT Cell appointed by the management.

  • Outsourcing for repair work of cameras and other equipment is done.

  • The college website helps students to do online admission as well as for future reference


Library



  • The enormous library of the college has got a vast reading hall. It facilitates computers with internet and Wi-Fi facility along with book reading hall, and a dedicated system for borrowing books is maintained by the head librarian.

  • The Library uses RFID Barcode system for easy access of books.

  • Seize fire is kept in library for any fire emergencies.

  • A NOC has to be obtained by the students on the last day of the college to ensure they have returned the issued books safely. Similar pattern is followed for the professors.

  • The library is open to students and professors of the college from morning 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

  • The requirement and list of books is taken from the concerned departments and Principal is involved in the process. The finalized list of required books is duly approved and signed by the Principal. A budget is made. Accordingly books are purchased.


Sports Facilities



  • The college administration always supports to give the students best sports facilities.

  • The department of Physical Education functions in a separate building.

  • A separate ground/court for Cricket, Kabbadi, Volley ball, Badminton and other sports activities is available in the campus.

  • Sports game kits, like for cricket, volleyball, badminton, basketball and other essential sports requirements are purchased under the supervision of the management in coordination with the department head.

  • Students can make use of these sports facilities from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Since the football ground is maintained by Sporting Club, the ground is booked prior in case of hosting any tournament.

  • Students are advised to wear blue Jersey for sports activities and for practice lessons, and for officiating session they have to wear white jersey.

  • Coaches for different sports activities are made available to the students under the supervision of the Principal.

  • Separate toilet and changing room is made available for male as well as female students.

  • A dedicated sports club is run under the guidance of a P.E. professor to ensure students from different departments are encouraged to participate in sports activities.


Verification of stock



  • Stock verification of the library books is done regularly by the library staff.

  • The college office ensures essential stationary required by the staff members under the supervision of the staff secretary and principal.

  • The examination essential stock requirement is managed under the supervision of the exam committee and principal.


Annual Maintenance Contract



  • The college has a full time carpenter, plumber and electricians.

  • Minor repairs and maintenance of furniture, electrical and other equipment is done by them as and when required.

  • Repair/maintenance work under the supervision of the Principal and management is carried out time to time.

  • Major maintenance work such as renovation and painting needs approval of the management and funds are allocated accordingly.


Additional Facilities



  • Water purifier and Cold water storage is available for staff and students and is well maintained. Timely repair work for the same is carried out under the supervision of the staff secretary and principal.

  • Availability for journals/sports diary is maintained and checked in by the college office at regular intervals.

  • Separate toilet is made available the male and female staff of the college.

  • A dedicated parking facility is available for students as well as staff members. They are provided with a parking sticker to attach to their vehicles in order to ensure their security within the campus during college hours.

  • The campus of the college is protected by CCTV cameras.

  • Hostel facility for male students is managed and maintained under the supervision of the management.

  • The campus also has two in-house canteen facilities which are accessible to students during college hours.
