Career Guidance Session on competitive exams

A career guidance session was organised to assist students and job aspirants in preparing for competitive exams such as Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC), Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and various banking exams. The session was led by Mr Kundanlal Parganiha from The BODHI Academy, who provided valuable insights into the preparation strategies and processes involved in these exams.
Mr Parganiha began the session by outlining the admission processes in various universities, particularly for courses that align with careers in government and banking sectors. He highlighted the importance of selecting the right academic programme and institution to build a strong foundation for future career opportunities.
The session included a detailed overview of the selection processes in different job sectors, including government departments and private companies. Mr Parganiha explained the distinct stages involved in recruitment, such as preliminary exams, mains and interviews. He also discussed the criteria that employers consider essential for various roles and how aspirants can prepare to meet these criteria.
Mr Parganiha provided an extensive list of recruitment bodies responsible for filling government job vacancies, such as the UPSC, Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and various State Public Service Commissions. He emphasised the importance of understanding the role of these bodies in the recruitment process and staying updated with their notifications.


Highlighting the demand for different roles, Mr Parganiha shared statistics on the average number of vacancies available in various government sectors, such as administrative services, police services, banking, and teaching. This data provided participants with a clearer picture of the job market and the opportunities available.
During the session, Mr Parganiha discussed which government posts offer better salaries and career progression. He highlighted positions in administrative services, revenue services, and public sector banks as some of the most lucrative and sought-after roles. Understanding these positions can help aspirants set clear career goals and prioritize their preparation efforts accordingly.
Mr Parganiha addressed a common concern regarding the number of vacancies that remain unfilled in various government sectors. He explained that factors such as a lack of qualified candidates, stringent selection criteria, and administrative delays often contribute to this issue. He encouraged aspirants to focus on enhancing their qualifications and preparation to meet the required standards.
Emphasising the importance of aptitude tests in most competitive exams, Mr Parganiha advised students to regularly practice aptitude questions to improve their speed and accuracy. He shared strategies for mastering quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal ability, which are crucial components of these exams.
Mr Parganiha concluded the session by introducing the WhatsApp community created by The BODHI Academy, which aims to provide continuous support and guidance to aspirants. He explained how this community can help participants stay motivated, share resources, and clarify doubts. Additionally, he mentioned the academy’s published books, which are tailored to the specific needs of exam preparation, offering comprehensive coverage of topics and practice questions.
