Educating with the heart of Don Bosco: College faculty members participate in a workshop-cum-seminar on Salesian Pedagogy

The Panjim Province unit of the Salesians of Don Bosco organized a Seminar-cum-Workshop on Salesian Pedagogy on 19th and 20th February 2026. Dr. Fr. John Parankimalil SDB, Secretary, All India Education Society (AIDBES); Dr. Fr. Banzelao Teixeira SDB, Vice Provincial of Panjim Province and Fr. Tamatur Cardozo SDB, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School were the resource persons. Ms. Divina Dias, Assistant Professor from the Department of Commerce and Ms. Christal Ferrao, Assistant Professor from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism represented Don Bosco College and participated in the workshop along with educators and members from various associations and societies of the Panjim Province.
The two-day workshop comprised of sessions on Salesian Pedagogy and Educating with the heart of Don Bosco. The participants rediscovered Don Bosco and his educational vision on the first day and discussed methods of education which involve the Salesian pedagogy in practice on the second day. The participants pondered about the preventive system of education fostered by the founder Don Bosco along with the immergence of the expressive system of education. They also discussed the three pillars of Salesian Pedagogy which is based on reason, religion and loving kindness. Educators and members were encouraged to become gardeners of souls by cultivating the garden of young minds, implementing the Agricultural Modal of Education: by sowing seeds and cultivating lives. They were also told that their classrooms should be an Oratory as a Home, School, Spirituality and Playground, focusing on all these aspects for holistic development of students.


The sessions were engaging and participant-driven with quizzes and team building activities to encourage educators to incorporate an active student-driven approach. They were shown films and clips from famous films along with inspiring speeches to highlight the relevance of qualitative education nurtured through presence and loving kindness.
