Alvyn Abranches is an Assistant Professor in Computer Applications with over four years of teaching experience and more than three years of industry experience in software development and AI-driven systems. His combined academic and professional background enables him to effectively bridge theoretical concepts with practical, real-world applications.
He works across interdisciplinary domains that connect computing with linguistics, sociology, cognitive science, and emerging computational paradigms. His teaching approach emphasizes conceptual clarity, hands-on experimentation, scalable system design, and research-oriented learning. He actively mentors students in developing real-world AI solutions, including multilingual NLP systems, speech-to-speech applications, and end-to-end AI deployment, while encouraging participation in hackathons, innovation challenges, and research initiatives.
Currently pursuing his PhD, his research focuses on advancing AI for low-resource Indian languages through computational psychosociolinguistics. His work explores language variation across social and cultural contexts and aims to develop inclusive, speech-based AI systems that support linguistic equity, particularly for Konkani and Marathi. He is also interested in the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing, and remains committed to building ethical, inclusive, and community-driven technologies.
