The Men’s Badminton Team of Don Bosco College, Panjim, emerged victorious at the Inter-Collegiate Badminton Championship organised by the Goa University Sports Section and held from 4 to 7 August 2026 at the SAG Indoor Sports Complex, Campal.
A total of 47 colleges participated in the tournament, making it a highly competitive event that showcased impressive skill, determination and sportsmanship.
The Don Bosco College team began their campaign on a strong note, defeating P.E.S. R.N. College, Farmagudi, by a convincing score of 3–0 in the opening match. Their confident performance reflected disciplined training, effective teamwork and strategic play.
In the semi-final, the team faced St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, in a closely contested encounter. Demonstrating resilience and composure, the Don Bosco team secured a hard-fought 3–2 victory and advanced to the final.
In the final, they faced Government College, Sanquelim. In another competitive match, the Don Bosco team displayed excellent teamwork and determination to secure a 3–1 victory, thereby winning the Inter-Collegiate Badminton Championship.
Adding to the team’s success, Abhishek Swami was awarded Best Player of the Tournament in the Men’s Section in recognition of his outstanding individual performance throughout the championship.
The team’s remarkable performance and Abhishek Swami’s individual achievement brought great pride to Don Bosco College, Panjim. Their success highlights the institution’s continued commitment to promoting excellence in sports alongside academics and serves as an inspiration to the entire college community.
