Don Bosco College’s Department of English in collaboration with the Cultural and Literary Committee organised an educational field trip for its BA English students. The outing was designed to provide first-hand exposure to Goan culture and narrative traditions.
The field trip commenced with an exploration of the ruins of the Church of St. Augustine in Old Goa, followed by a guided tour of the Museum of Christian Art. Ms. Natasha Fernandes and Mr. Benjamin Monserrate took participants through the Indo-Western sacred art on display, explaining how material culture informs literary studies and historical analysis.
The group then travelled to Divar Island to attend the vibrant Malar Bonderam festival. Students enjoyed a traditional Goan lunch and participated in the flag parade cum heritage walk, thereby celebrating the island’s folklore and communal harmony. The field trip was coordinated by Assistant Professors Alisha Souza and Jude Fernandes.
