Starting the series of sporting events that will line up this jubilee year, the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Don Bosco College, Panjim, organized an Interclass Badminton Tournament on July 15-16, 2026, which witnessed a total of 21 classes competing in the boys’ and girls’ categories. The event was organized with the aim of promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness, and healthy competition among students.
The inaugural was held on July 15th in the presence of Principal Prof. Teotone Vaz, Dr. Vijay Veigas, Coordinator of the Department of BA Psychology, Mr Ryan Pereira, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, and Ms. Prissie Fernandes, Instructor in Physical Education and Sports. The tournament was formally declared open by the Principal. As part of the inaugural, the students were made aware of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, emphasizing the importance of a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
Matches commenced on the first day and continued with great zeal. The first day saw teams competing till the quarterfinals. On July 16, the remaining rounds were played. Both girls and boys participated actively, marking the game with team spirit and competitive energy.
The closing ceremony was held in the presence of the College Director of Physical Education and Sports Ryan Pereira, and Instructor, Ms. Prissie Fernandes. The winners were felicitated with medals, certificates, and trophies. The title of the Best Female Player was awarded to Ms Simone Pereira of TYBBA, and Best Male Player was awarded to Mr Ram Gawas of TYBBA.
In the overall tournament, TYBBA emerged as the winners, while TYBBA T&T secured the runners-up position. The Interclass Badminton Tournament concluded successfully, providing students with a platform to showcase their talent and promoting the spirit of sports within the college.
