A landmark chapter in the history of Don Bosco College, Panjim unfolded on 6 July 2026 as the institution formally inaugurated its Silver Jubilee celebrations, commemorating twenty-five years of academic excellence, holistic education, and service to society. The occasion marked not merely the beginning of a year-long celebration, but also a moment of reflection on the college’s remarkable journey and its enduring commitment to the Salesian philosophy of education.
The celebrations commenced with a Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Panjim. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Clive Telles, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Panjim, who prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the institution and all those who have contributed to its growth over the past twenty-five years. The spirit of thanksgiving soon gave way to celebration as students, faculty, alumni, pioneers, and distinguished guests assembled on the college campus for the official opening of the Silver Jubilee Year. The ceremony began with a prayerful invocation, followed by an address from the Director, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, who reflected on the college’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of Goa’s respected centres of higher learning. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolised the institution’s unwavering pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and service.
Among the defining moments of the inaugural programme was the unveiling of the official Silver Jubilee commemorative logo, representing the legacy and aspirations of the institution. This was followed by a nostalgic audio-visual presentation that took the audience through the milestones, memories, and achievements that have shaped Don Bosco College over the last quarter century. Adding a personal dimension to the celebrations, former Principal Dr. Marie Raj revisited the institution’s formative years, recalling the vision, dedication, and collective effort that laid the foundation for its continued growth. The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Clive Telles, in his keynote address, congratulated the college community on the milestone and encouraged the institution to continue forming young people who are intellectually competent, morally upright, and socially responsible.
The celebrations also showcased the institution’s vibrant academic and cultural identity. The latest edition of the college magazine, Bosco Chronicles, was formally released, while the Rector, Rev. Fr. Tamatur Cardozo, and the Principal, Prof. Teotone Vaz, reflected on the institution’s achievements and its aspirations for the future. The launch of the official Silver Jubilee commemorative T-shirt and the unveiling of the new College Anthem, performed live by the college choir, added colour and emotion to the occasion.
Looking ahead, Staff Secretary Mr. Agnelo D’Souza introduced the roadmap of activities planned for the jubilee year, promising community engagement initiatives that will continue throughout the celebrations. The programme concluded with the presentation of mementoes to the dignitaries and a vote of thanks delivered by Vice Principal Dr. Cedric Silveira.
As Don Bosco College, Panjim enters its twenty-fifth year, the Silver Jubilee stands as both a celebration of its rich legacy and a reaffirmation of its vision for the future. Rooted in the Salesian values of reason, spirituality, and loving-kindness, the institution remains committed to shaping generations of young people who will lead with integrity, compassion, and excellence.
