Don Bosco College, Panjim, and Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho, have formalised a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) as part of their commitment to implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The collaboration, facilitated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs) of both institutions, aims to promote multidisciplinary engagement and academic excellence.
As a key initiative under this partnership, a One-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Synergizing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) for Academic Excellence” was organised in the AV Hall of Don Bosco College. The program sought to integrate traditional knowledge systems with contemporary legal frameworks, fostering innovation and research-oriented teaching practices.
The FDP featured eminent resource persons- Adv. Shalini Menezes, an IP Strategist from Goa, and Dr. Ankur Joshi of Wisdom Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan - who provided valuable insights into intellectual property management and the relevance of indigenous knowledge in academia.
Coordinated by Dr. Vijay Viegas and the IQAC team, the program aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Dr. Viegas emphasized the institution’s dedication to continuous faculty development under the leadership of Principal Prof. Teotone Vaz and Director Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz.
The FDP was well-received, equipping faculty members with knowledge on safeguarding intellectual property while upholding the richness of Indian knowledge traditions.
