The Women’s Cell of Don Bosco College, Panjim, organized a special International Women’s Day Celebration on March 7, 2026, at the Bicentenary Hall under the inspiring theme: “Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.” The programme was a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable achievements of women across diverse fields and a celebration of the spirit of womanhood marked by strength, resilience, and inspiration.
The event began with an introductory remark by the compère, followed by a soulful welcome song rendered by Ms. Joynixa, which set a graceful tone for the morning. The dignitaries were then escorted to the dais, and the gathering was warmly welcomed.
The distinguished dignitaries present for the occasion included Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director of the College; Prof. Teotonio Vaz, Principal; Ms. Vina Parwar, Women’s Cell Convenor; Ms. Manju, Ladies Representative, along with the esteemed women achievers who were honoured during the programme.


The Welcome Address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, who highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment and emphasized the need to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women to society.
A major highlight of the event was the felicitation of distinguished women achievers, each of whom has made a significant mark in her respective field. The honourees included Advocate Swati Kamat Wagh, a prominent High Court lawyer and public prosecutor recognized for her exceptional service in the legal field; Ms. Shikha Pathak, an international sports referee and educator celebrated for her outstanding achievements in Ju-Jitsu and sports leadership; Mrs. Emera Remedios, entrepreneur and founder of Mirasha, known for her creativity, innovation, and community-building initiatives; and Mrs. Jhaanvi Bondre, Bharatanatyam exponent and founder of Siddhakala Dance Institute, honoured for her dedication to classical arts and dance education.
Following the felicitation, each awardee shared inspiring words of encouragement, reinforcing the message of strength, perseverance, and empowerment that defined the celebration.

The programme also recognized the Student Women Achievers in Sports of Don Bosco College, who have brought laurels to the institution through their exceptional performances in disciplines such as football, athletics, basketball, taekwondo, powerlifting, and judo. Their achievements at the inter-collegiate, state, and national levels were applauded as shining examples of youthful determination, discipline, and excellence.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Vina Parwar, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the college management, faculty members, and the organizing team for their support and cooperation in making the programme a meaningful success.
