The Cinemaniacs team with Chief Guest Mr. Dhruv Sincro, Faculty In-charge Agnelo D'Souza, and Students In-charges - Rameez Shaikh and Rhucha Bhobe
In the shimmer and spotlight of the inaugural event of the Film Club 'The Cinemaniacs' on August 26, 2024, at Don Bosco College, Panjim, students and faculty gathered in the Audio-Visual Hall to celebrate the club's launch. The event, which featured Goan actor and entrepreneur Mr. Dhruv Sincro as the chief guest, marked an exciting reboot of the club's journey.
The event commenced with an enthusiastic crowd, introduced by host Siddharth Kittur of the FY BBA department. He welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries, including the Director of Don Bosco College, Fr. Joaquim Lobo, Principal Dr. Cedric Silveira, and the club's Faculty In-Charge, Asst. Professor Agnelo D’Souza, along with faculty members from the Department of Mass Communication & Journalism.
Fr. Joaquim Lobo addressed the gathering, encouraging aspiring filmmakers to start early and work diligently to achieve success. Asst. Professor Agnelo D'Souza then reflected on his journey with The Cinemaniacs since taking charge in 2022. He shared his passion for film, outlined the club's objectives, and highlighted past activities such as flash mob videos, filmmaking workshops, movie screenings, and music videos, all mentored under his guidance. D'Souza also discussed the club's flagship event, ‘Cinemania,’ an inter-departmental and intercollegiate film and filmmaking competition founded under his direction. He introduced the club’s student leaders for the ongoing academic year: Mr. Rameez Shaikh of TY BAMC as Secretary and Ms. Rhucha Bhobe of TY BCA as Assistant Secretary, both recognized for their hard work and enthusiasm. A cinematic countdown followed, culminating in Chief Guest Dhruv Sincro officially declaring ‘The Cinemaniacs’ open for the academic year 2024-25.

Rameez Shaikh then shared The Cinemaniacs' vision, encouraging student collaboration and active participation in the club's activities. He announced, with a teaser, that the next edition of 'Cinemania' is scheduled for October 14-15, 2024, to be organized in collaboration with the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism.
Mr. Dhruv Sincro, celebrated for his role in the cinematic blockbuster 'Kalki 2898 AD,' also showcased his talents in short films like 'Dohra' and 'The Gift,' which were screened for the students. Following the screenings, TY BAMC student Sharvi Dhond interviewed Mr. Sincro, discussing his life, career, and the challenges he has faced. He provided insights into his journey to 'Kalki 2898 AD' and shared his experiences on set. After the interview, the floor was opened for audience questions, allowing students to engage directly with the esteemed actor.
Rhucha Bhobe concluded the event by expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the inauguration and urging students to create, explore, and celebrate the magic of cinema.
The event drew a full house, with around 100 students from various departments of Don Bosco College, Panjim, making it a truly cinematic occasion.
