As a strong step towards making our children safe, a fruitful session on the topic “Good Touch Bad touch” was organised by the Extension Committee of the Don Bosco College, in Ramdas Government Primary School, St-Inez Panjim on March 24, 2023 from 9.30am to 10.45am for students of first to Fourth standard. The session was conducted by a Medical and Psychiatry Social Worker Ms Anishka Desa, with the sole objective of spreading awareness against Child Sexual Abuse and educating children about Good Touch and Bad Touch which exist as dark realities in society today.

Ms Desa presented a very informative and useful session where she tried to explain the students how to identify safe and unsafe touch and also what to do when an unsafe touch is experienced by them whether in school or any other public place. The children learnt to identify the bad touch areas. They also learnt to handle strangers who made unwanted touch and how to express their disagreement by saying “ Do not touch me.” The children were taught to inform about such happenings to their parents, teachers and adults they trust. The resource person conducted a practical demonstration which gave the children a clear picture about the safe circle and made the concept of good and bad touch very clear. This also helped the children to recognize, safeguard and protect themselves against such dangers from an early age.

At the end a small video was presented to the children showcasing different instances of related situations and how to tackle the same. Overall it was a very interactive and interesting session where all the children gave their reponses to many questions when asked. A token of gratitude was proposed to the resource person for imparting the valuable knowledge, the school teachers for allowing the College to conduct the session and to the lovely children who attentively engaged themselves in the entire session.
