Meteora - the annual inter collegiate event of Don Bosco College was held for 2 days on February 23 and 24, 2023 at the College Oratory. The event started with a great boom and immense enthusiasm. The theme for this year’s Meteora was Summer Spectrum with an exuberant series of madness, zeal and ingenuity. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the function Mr. Gavin Dias, the General Manager at the Goa Tourism Development, along with other dignitaries namely the Director of the College, Rev Fr Joaquim Lobo, College Principal Dr Cedric Silveira, Faculty in -charge Asst. Professor Shantanu Arlekar, Meteora Chairperson Ralina Soares and Meteora Vice-Chairperson Ishita Rao General Secretary Vishal Jha and Cultural Secretary Mrunalini Pai.


The vision of making Meteora one of a kind, would not have been possible without the support of the title sponsor La Pino’z India as well as the event sponsors namely,
Welcome Mobile World, REBORN Salon, My Canada Visa and Basilio Gym. The sponsors who also contributed significantly to this event were the merchandise partner -Voir, the catering sponsors - Saaj Café and Hibas Shakes, trophy sponsors – Rajdeep Builders and other sponsors including Phone Reseller, Isolutions, Naadkula Restaurant and Freshee by Era Distributors.


The event witnessed participation from eight different colleges across Goa, namely S. S. Dempo College, Dhempe College, Caculo College (Saraswat), Indian Institute of Technology, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Father Agnel’s College of Arts and Commerce, Pilar and Vidhya Prabhodini College. The colleges were given names of summer destinations as per the theme of the event.
The events were categorised into on stage, off stage and sports events. The on-stage events were Trop-ic Like its Hot, Mr. & Ms. Meteora, Where Y’all At? Beat The Heat, Lips Don’t Lie, Rhythm Riot, Hot Couture, Pitch Please and M-Ad Angles. The off-stage events included Hoist Your Colors, Brush N Blush, The Hot Chase, Summer Snap, Soul to Sole, This or That and Sky High. The Sports events were Sun, Sweat & Steel, Dizzy Football, Boiling Point, Sunny Sprint, Tug of War and Futsal. In addition to these events the college organised a football match as part of Meteora’s outreach programme which was played between the Don Bosco High School,Panjim and the Margaret Bosco Bal Sadan, Bastora in which the team Don Bosco were crowned the winners.


Day one began with various on stage, off stage and sports events. The main attractions were the on-stage events Pitch Please, the acapella competition, where students had to perform without any musical instrument and use only human sounds. The Mr. and Ms. Meteora qualifying round which consisted of the speaker and talent round was enjoyed by a great audience. Simultaneously, the off stage and the sports events were conducted with great participation and zeal. The crowd was once again filled with cheers and whistles as the college teams set up their instruments to sing and play their hearts out for Trop-ic like it’s Hot, battle of the bands. The audience was jumping on their feet as the bands gave one amazing performance after the other. The first day concluded with the event Beat the Heat, the dance competition which was an exhilarating time for the students.
Meteora continued its fun filled and entertaining events on day two. The first session included on stage events like M-Ad Angles, Lips Don’t Lie which were quite hilarious and totally moved the audience with the thrilling performances. The students of all the colleges gave their best for the Lip Sync Battle named ‘Lips Don’t Lie.’ The second session covered the final round of Mr and Miss Meteora who were crowned on the basis of how they presented themselves and answered the questions asked by Syed Askari, the president of My Canada Visas and Ms.Inika Hadfadkar, Miss India 2023 by Glam & Elegance.


Before the Fashion Show competition started, the students of Don Bosco College put up their own depiction of the theme Apocalyptic Summer with style after which the contestants walked the ramp and showed off their modeling skills. Mr Syed Askari, the president of My Canada Visas, gave away cash prizes to the winners of Hot Couture, fashion show. Rhythm Riot, the DJ competition was raging fun as students showed their exceptional talents. There were multiple other competitions which were held off stage including reel making, 3rd degree and multiple sports competitions.

S.S Dempo College (team Rio), emerged as the runners- up while Vidya Prabodini College (team Venice) were crowned the overall winners of Meteora 2023.
