Acting lessons at DBC Panjim

QUICK BITE - Dr. Isabel de Santa Rita Vas, chief guest for the inaugural of the Books and Beyond club at Don Bosco College, Panjim shared her experiences about reading and the relationship between theatre and books.


The Books and Beyond club of Don Bosco College, Panaji, was inaugurated on 27th September 2022 by Dr. Isabel de Santa Rita Vas in the presence of the Principal Dr. Cedric Silveira, Director Rev Fr. Joaquim Lobo and faculty in charge, Assistant Professor Shona Desilva.


Dr. Cedric Silveira and Fr. Joaquim Lobo spoke about their memories with Ms. Isabel Vas and about the importance of books in the lives of students. Assistant Professor Shona Desilva introduced the Books and Beyond club and shared her personal experience of reading. Dr. Vas spoke about the relationship between theatre and books. This included the way reading books help one in life, increase our vocabulary and help us express ourselves more clearly. She also spoke about her own love-hate relationship with books by sharing a few hilarious tales from her childhood.


A theatre workshop was conducted by Dr Vas and students participated in various theatre-based activities. The students learnt about the different actions and expressions in theatre. Activities such as matching different sets of emotions with the relevant words, acting out a short play and using a book as a prop were taught to them. The students actively participated in every activity conducted. Ms Abigail Picardo, the President of the book club delivered the vote of thanks. This interactive session with the high-spirited and lively Dr. Isabel Vas encouraged many young minds gain interest in the arts of theatre and reading.
