Don Bosco Panjim Emphasizes Physical and Mental Well-being on International Yoga Day

QUICK BITE - To mark the 8th International Yoga Day, the N.S.S unit of Don Bosco College, Panjim along with Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim, conducted a yoga session to emphasize the importance of meditation and breathing to promote mental well-being on 21 June 2022.


The N.S.S unit of Don Bosco College, Panjim, along with Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim, conducted a yoga session to mark the 8th International Yoga Day on 21 June 2022 emphasizing the importance of meditation and breathing to promote mental well-being. The dignitaries present for the function were Manager of Don Bosco College, Rev Fr Joaquim Lobo, Principal of Don Bosco College, Dr Cedric Silveira, NSS Program Officer Asst Professor Sachin Parsekar, NSS officers of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Mr Nilesh Pai and Tr Muriel Alphonso.


The program began by welcoming the dignitaries and was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Fr Joaquim Lobo addressed the gathering and emphasised on exercising for a healthy living. A brief talk on the significance and importance of Yoga was given by Miss Esther D’Mello, student of the Higher Secondary.


Mr Parsekar along with student volunteers, Prayag Simepurushkar and Rohit Angolkar, demonstrated the asanas in a step-by-step manner. The benefits of every asana were well-explained by Mr Parsekar. The live demonstration captured the attention of the 140 participants present in the hall. The asana session concluded with a short meditation.
The program was compered by higher secondary school student, Miss Paroma Kulkarni and ended on a renewed and healthy note with a vote of thanks proposed by the NSS leader of the Higher Secondary School, Amin Shaikh.
