Talk on Environment Management by Mr Gaurav Pokle

“Sustainability is the new catch” said Mr Gaurav Pokle who was addressing the students on the topic “Environmental Management”. The Department of Business Administration (Travel & Tourism) in collaboration with Ecotiva club of Don Bosco College, Panjim organised this session to create awareness on environmental issues and sustainable intiatives in current times on 11th March 2024.
And to deliver this, we had Mr Gaurav Pokle, Founder and managing director of ‘Inovativa Waste Aid & Management Pvt. Ltd.’, President of Responsible Earth Foundation and numerous accolades to his credit. The unique innovation started by Mr Gaurav is a concept called “YIMBY”

YIMBY, an initiative of Inovativa Waste Aid and Management Pvt Ltd. is India’s first one stop shop for safe and responsible waste management solutions, ensuring we live in a sustainable environment. YIMBY is an acronym for “Yes In My Backyard”, a pro-development movement in contrast and opposition to the NIMBY, “Not In My Backyard” phenomenon.

Mr Pokle spoke about the realities and challenges faced by environment and on personal basis how he chose to work for betterment of the same. He emphasized on “being the change” and working on sustainable efforts. He also reminded the students the impact of urbanization and waste generation and the role we need to play as responsible citizens.
The session was attended by the departmental students and few members of the club. This session was also a part of the subject ‘Life skills’ by Prof. Nafisa Da Costa Frias and brief initiative of Ecotiva club incharge Prof. Glenda Mascarenhas.
The students asked questions about Ewaste collection points and sustainable measures in organizations. Ms. Priyanda from the FY class introduced the speaker and Steinson from the same gave the vote of thanks.
Overall the session was very educative.
